Robert R. “Blackie” Blackburn, 76, of Wintersville, Ohio died Friday, November 1, 2013 at his home. He was born in Bloomingdale, OH on February 6, 1937 a son of the late Albert R. and Sarah J. Kuhn Blackburn. Blackie was a veteran of the US Army and a member of Finley United Methodist Church. He retired from Wheeling Pitt as a wheel grinder. Preceding Blackie in death were four brothers Finley, Russell, Jim and Albert Blackburn and two sister Iva M. Paxton and Wilma Faye Thompson. Surviving are his wife Patricia L. “Patty” Gump Blackburn; children Bobby (Lynda) Blackburn of Wintersville, OH, Ray Blackburn of Wintersville, OH, Russ (Jenn) Blackburn of Bloomingdale, OH, Theresa (Brian) Martin of Wintersville, OH and Tracy (Alan) Blackburn of Wintersville, OH; seven grandchildren Austin Martin, Kayla Francis Blackburn, Jonathan Blackburn, Trevor Martin, Nathan Martin, Becca Blackburn and Tyler Martin; brother Jacob Blackburn of Bloomingdale, OH and sister Ella Eshbaugh of Richmond, OH. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville on Sunday 3 – 5 p.m. where a funeral service will be held Monday 10 a.m. with Rev. P. Douglas George officiating. Entombment at Fort Steuben where Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will perform military honors. Memorials may be directed to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
