Robert J. “Bob” Becker, Sr., 77, of Bloomingdale, OH passed away, Sunday, July 22, 2018 at his Hidden Manor residence. He was born in Steubenville on May 5, 1941 son of the late William A. Becker, Sr. and Elizabeth F. “Bessie” Pipkin Becker. He was a master carpenter, electrician and a retired business owner. In his twenties, he worked with his brother at Becker Construction building homes throughout the area. Then he ventured out on his own and started RJB Security from which he retired. With many interests, hobbies and skills, he was well known throughout the community for lending a helping hand to people and patiently teaching those who wanted to learn. He farmed as a hobby for many years. Bob grew up on Tweed Farm in Mingo and was a member of the Hillandale Fire Department. He restored antique cars including his pride and joy trophy-winning 1920 Ford Model T. He was an active member of the Antique Car Club since the early 1970’s and enjoyed driving the Model T in holiday parades. Bob helped to build St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Bloomingdale where he remained a member until it was closed at which time he joined Blessed Sacrament in Wintersville and Our Lady of Lourdes. As a young man, Bob was the director of the choir at Holy Name Cathedral in Steubenville. He served on the Indian Creek School Board for eight years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia L. Huber Becker, on October 29, 1998; brother, William A. Becker, Jr, and sister, Shirley A. Becker Moro. Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and is survived by his son, Robert J. Becker, Jr (Richfield, OH).; daughters, Denise L. Becker Geanangel (Hopedale, OH) and Diane R. Becker (Raleigh, NC); grandchildren, Kent T. “KT” Geanangel, Brandon A. Geanangel, Cole A. Becker, Robert A. “Alex” Becker and McKenna L. Becker. Funeral liturgy with Mass will be on Thursday, July 26, 2018, 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Gossett as celebrant. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hillman Cancer Center, 5115 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15232.

Sorry to hear of Bob's death. I remember him helping me at St. Thomas Moore Parish in Bloomingdale when I was pastor there. Diane, Denise and Bob, you were in High School when I was there.
