Robert E. Wallace, Jr. 78 of Wintersville, Ohio died Friday, September 17, 2004 at Crestview Health Care Center, St. Clairsville, Ohio. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on March 1, 1926 a son of the late Robert E. and Jessie Brock Wallace, Sr. Robert was a member of Cove Presbyterian Church in Weirton, West Virginia; Masonic Lodge 182 and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 332, both in Smithfield, Ohio. He was also a Scout Master and a former mayor of Smithfield, where he also had served on the Board of Education. Robert was retired from Weirton Steel where he was a superintendent of maintenance and also was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. Preceded in death by a brother Richard Wallace. Surviving are his wife Ruth A. Downing Wallace, sons Terry (Sharon) Wallace of Wintersville and James (Dawn) Wallace of Cincinnati, Ohio, brother James A. Wallace of Calcutta, Ohio, sisters Dorothy Lee of Steubenville and Gladys McVay of St. Petersburg, Florida and five grandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m., where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Lenno officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates, Wintersville. Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct services at the cemetery. Masonic services 7 p.m. Sunday followed by Eastern Star services.
