Robert E. “Bob” Snider, Sr. was called home to be with the Lord on May 5, 2013. He passed peacefully at Siena Woods after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s with his loving wife Catherine “Kay”, at his side. He was born to the late Benjamin and Laura Moran Snider on the 24th of July 1923 in Steubenville. Bob was a long time member of Brentwood United Methodist Church and served as head usher for many years. He was a member of Brentwood’s Methodist Men’s Group. Bob gave of himself not only to God and his family, but also his country. He served in the US Navy from 1942-1947 during WWII. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 557 in Wintersville. Robert was retired from National Steel on December 31, 1982 after 40 years of service as a tin mill mechanic and was also a member of the 25 year club. Bobs favorite pastime after retiring was golfing. He was a member of Spring Hills golf club, and was very proud of his “hole in one”. Bob as he was called by family and friends alike married Catherine “Kay” Currance on the 27th of March 1947 at the Findley Church parsonage. They just celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant son David, an infant brother, brothers Benjamin, Charles and William. Bob (Pap) was a devoted family man, and was the greatest father our family could have had. He loved all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and there is nothing he wouldn’t do for them. He will be greatly missed by his widow Catherine; sons Robert Jr. (Darlene) of Wintersville, Gary (Cindy) of Richmond, Donald (Debra) of Wintersville, Bruce (Connie) of Wintersville and Brent (Jane) of Goose Creek, SC; brother Ronald (Deke) and sister Ruth (Jim) Fike of Wintersville. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren as well as 2 great great grandchildren. Pap was so fond of the nurses and aides at Sienna Wood and we are so grateful they took such good care of him. The family requests in lieu of flowers please send donations to Charity Hospice or Brentwood United Methodist Church. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Wednesday from 5-8p.m., where funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 12:30p.m. with Rev. Bill Westling officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery.

Dear Snider family, Words can't even express how sad I am over the loss of Pap. You all have my sympathy and he will be greatly missed.I will never forget his voice when I would go in to see him and he would always say "Hey Sis, What do you know"? and giving him his nightly ice cream, or two, or three. 🙂 He always put a smile on my face and him and Gram were the main reason leaving Sienna was so hard. You are all in my prayers. Much love to all of you. God Bless. Sharon Kuhns
