Obituary For Robert E. "Bob" Rast

Robert E. “Bob” Rast, 85, of Steubenville, Ohio died Sunday, August 4, 2019 at Trinity West. He was born October 14, 1933 in Waupaca, Wisconsin a son of the late Albert & Violet Rast. Serving during both the Korean and Viet Nam Wars in Special Forces and as a Green Beret, Bob retired from the US Army as a Master Sergeant. Bob also retired from Ryder System, Inc., Tampa, FL. He was a member of American Legion Argonne Post 33 and V.F.W. Preceding Bob in death were his wife Martha C. Fristick Rast, whom he married on September 7, 1963 and she passed away May 9, 2005; stepdaughter Roberta A. “Bobbi” Smith; and brother Noel Stubbe.Bob is survived by his cousin & caregiver Jude (Bill) Lucas of Steubenville; siblings Ray Rast, Anita Heimbruch & Diane (Charles) Wilichowski; and many nephews and nieces.Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Gossett officiating. Entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.Memorials may be directed to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-85

    A truly fine man and a great Uncle.  Always kind to everyone.  His courage was shown in his military life and willingness to help others.  He will be missed.  May the road to heaven rise up to meet him and take him to the pearly gates.
