Obituary For Robert D. Turrentine

Robert D. “Bud” Turrentine, 76, of Steubenville, Ohio died Sunday, June 18, 2006 at Kindred Hospital, Oakdale, PA. He was born August 12, 1929 in East Springfield, OH a son of the late Samuel M. and Helen Orr Turrentine. He retired from Timet as a shipping foreman. Bud graduated from Steubenville High School in 1949 and was a standout athlete. He was a member of First Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as a past elder and was on numerous committees. He was a member of American Legion Argonne Post #33, Steubenville High School athletic booster, coach and president of Steubenville Little League, Timet Golf League, and coached McKinley Grade School football. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Preceding Bud in death was his first wife of 47 years Mary Lou Young Turrentine on April 17, 2001. Surviving are his wife Jean A. Blackburn Damis Turrentine; son Samuel Michael (Ramaine “Sam”) Turrentine of Steubenville; daughter Marjorie Radakovich of Steubenville; 3 grandsons Brian, Adam, and Andrew Radakovich all of Steubenville; sister Jean Gossett of Steubenville; two step sons John (Lori) Damis of Weirton and Christopher Damis of Canton, OH; step daughter April (David) Winfield of Wintersville; and six step grandchildren David, Scott, Holly, and Evan Winfield and Justin and Clarissa Damis. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Tuesday 2 - 4 & 6 - 9 p.m. where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Susan Haseltine officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery where Argonne Post #33 will conduct military honors. Memorials in Bud’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
