Obituary For Robert C. "Bob" McCullough, Sr

Robert C. “Bob” McCullough, Sr., 84, of Wintersville, Ohio died Friday, April 24, 2009 at Gables Care Center.   He was born May 5, 1924 in Steubenville, OH a son of the late John and Virginia McConnell McCullough.  Bob was a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and American Legion.  He graduated from Steubenville Catholic Central High School and retired from National Steel.  Bob was a WW II veteran serving in the Army, an avid golfer and an avid Notre Dame fan.  Bob was committed to his family and friends.  Preceding Bob in death were his 1st wife Lois Catherine Dugan McCullough; son Timothy John McCullough; three grandchildren Douglas McCullough, Mark and Diane Gurrera and three brothers John Roy, Thomas and Joseph Eugene McCullough.  Surviving are his wife Rita A. Meehan McCullough; three sons Robert C. (Sandy) McCullough of Wintersville, OH, Michael (Nancy) McCullough of Lake Zurich, IL and Jay (Don Warren) of Richmond, VA; two daughters Stephanie (George) Gurrera of Weirton, WV and Mary Ann May of Grand Rapids, MI; thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.  Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville Monday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m.  Funeral liturgy with mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Tuesday 11 a.m. with Msgr. Kurt H. Kemo officiating.  Vigil service Monday 3:45 p.m.  Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be directed to Blessed Sacrament St. Vincent de Paul Society.

    Dear Children of Uncle Bob, I am very sorry for your loss. I know things weren't great. Aunt Rita didn't remember him. He was a good man and is with God and your Mom in heaven. I'm sorry I can't be there but my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Marianne

    Mr McCullough was a wonderful person. He told me so many great stories about his family. He sure did love all of his children. He never left the bank without telling me hello. He will be missed by many. All of you are in our thought and prayers

    Bob, So sorry to hear of your dad's passing. He was a kind man and always seemed sincerely interested in others. The years have gone by, and our dads' generation is going too quickly, but the good memories will always remain. Had we been in the area still we would have come by, but be assured of our prayers.
