Robert C. Freese 77 of Steubenville, OH died Sunday, May 4, 2003 at Trinity East, Steubenville. He was born in Bellevue, PA on August 19, 1925 a son of the late Homer and Katherine Roy Freese. He was preceded in death by one daughter Susan Freese. Bob was a member of Bell Chapel United Methodist Church and Steubenville Kiwanis Club, Elks Lodge # 231 (currently serving as chaplain); Steubenville Country Club; Steubenville Shrine Club; Bellevue (PA) American Legion; and Steubenville Masonic Lodge 45 F&AM. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. as a wage administrator and served in US Navy during WWII. Bob graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University with a degree in Management Engineering and was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity of C.M.U. Delta Alpha Chapter. Bob taught business math at both Jefferson Community College and the University of Steubenville. He taught Sunday School at the former LaBelle View U.M. Church. Bob was instrumental in forming the Millman’s Hostel for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the former Junior Chamber of Commerce of Steubenville and the George Hixon Award from Kiwanis. Bob was affiliated with Steubenville Little League for fifty years, having coached The Orioles. Bob is survived by his wife Martha Lodge Freese; one daughter Barbara (Thomas) Turner of Weirton, WV; two brothers Homer Freese of Plainfield, IL and Paul Freese of Pittsburgh, PA; and one sister Katherine Murray of San Diego, CA. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Tuesday 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friends may call at Bell Chapel Church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Proya officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery, Steubenville, Ohio Masonic services 7:30 p.m. Tuesday Elks Services 7 p.m. Wednesday Memorial contributions may be made to Bell Chapel U.M. Church
