Rita returned to her Lord on December 23, 2023 in Dover OH, where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law.
She was born in Steubenville, OH. on January 3, 1941, the daughter of Stewart and Lena DiStefano Irwin.
She retired from the Dixon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after 26 years as director of social service and admission coordinator. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in New Philadelphia, OH.
Rita is survived by her beloved daughters Linda (Rick) Armstrong of Bloomingdale, OH, Karen Chociej (fiance’ Al Micucci) of Steubenville, OH, Cheryl (Jim) Kopras of Dover, OH, eight grandchildren, Joshua, Jason, Jessica, Brad, Hannah, Zachary, Steve, Stephanie, fifteen great grandchildren and her loving companion Roger Gaughan of Steubenville, OH. She is also survived by two brothers, Dale Irwin of Toronto, OH. and Mike Irwin of Coraopolis, PA.
Rita was grateful for the wonderful and happy life she led and the beloved family and friends that were part of it.
In keeping with Rita’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. She requested a private family service. Entombment at Mt. Calvary Resurrection Mausoleum.
