Obituary For Richard "Dick" Davis

Wednesday evening, July 10, 2019, Richard “Dick” Edward Davis of Steubenville, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones.He was the son of the late Robert and Beathia “Betty” Allan Davis, and brother of Ronald L. (Patty) Davis. He was also preceded in death by Rhonda Snodgrass, a loving child who Dick and Joan cherished as their own.He leaves behind “the love of his life”, Joan Soltis Davis. The couple would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary July 12, 2019. He is also survived by his daughter Jennifer (Eric) Irwin, and son Rich (Valerie) Davis. He was a proud and loving Pappy to Victoria (Joey Perkey) Davis, Bekah Switzer, Nicholas Davis, Chyanne Switzer, Terri Jo “Darla” Fittro, Paris Davis and Emmett Irwin. He was a wonderful Great Pappy to Carlina Morales and Joey Perkey.Dick graduated from Wintersville High School in 1963, and was a veteran of the United States National Guard. He was a charter member of the former Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Richmond, OH.He loved spending time with family and friends, and his puppies held a very special place in his heart. He liked to garden and play cards; he was a Jack of All Trades; Master of Some.After a 48-year career, he retired from RG Steel, formerly Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, in 2012.Family and friends will be received at Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Sunday July 14 from 1-4 P.M. and Monday July 15 at 12 P.M.; a service will follow at 1 P.M. with Reverend David Massimi officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery, Steubenville, OH.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Garden Club at Prime Time Senior Center, Steubenville, OH – an organization that he loved, and was a very active member.

    I was so sorry to read of Dick's passing.  He was such a nice man and I have so many good memories of our times together when our kids were young.  Again, my deepest condolences.  Mary Ann Roush Dean

    I will always remember Dick with a cigar in his mouth. He loved his family and they loved him back and in the end that's all that matters.
