I was the graduating class of 1974 and there isn't a day that I drive past that lil house on Lover's Lane where I remember him living and not smile of the true kindness he showed me while in his class. Know that this Man did influence my life over many years and he is always held on a pedestal his devotion to every single one of us and it will never go unnoticed. Rest in Peace Mr.Markwell you will never know just the long life mark you left on my heart.

I am so sorry to hear of Mr Markwells passing. I loved having him as choir director at Winterville Highschool. I was just telling our church choir director that Mr Markwell always told us to keep our eyes on the director not the audience. What a wonderful man..

Richard passed roughly one month after my Mother did last year. I sang with him and enjoyed his company in Steub. Choral Society too many years ago. While it might seem that everyone must have a temper, I never saw his and am pleased to say that I knew him. I know that many, many others also miss him.

Ruth, I am so sorry about hearing about Kent passing away. You know that he was the first one to give me the chance to sing and play piano for the high school choirs and he was so much fun to be with in the Steubenville Choral Society. He will be truly missed in the community for his gift of music.

Ruth, I cannot begin to express how sorry I am in the loss of your adoring husband. He was, in my eyes, a prodigy, who could play anything on cue with zest, like he practiced it for hours. Ruth, you and Kent are my biggest mentors by not only teaching me how to play piano, but by giving me a gift for a lifetime. RIP, Kent. I will always remember you and your energy. Tell Amy I said hello and give her a hug from me, her first best friend. Love, Deanne

Mrs. Markwell, My sincerest sympathy in the loss of your husband. He taught my daughter Kimberly Everly in Wintersville and we both thought so much of him as a music teacher. He once gave her a very difficult piece of music for the clarinet for competition and encouraged her so much and made her believe she could do, and she did so successfully. She would love to tell you how she feels herself but she passed 6 yrs ago. I am thankful she had such a qualified, kind, loving teacher who made such an impact on her. I will keep you in prayer
