Richard E. “Dick” Conn, 75, of Wintersville, Ohio, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at his residence.  He was born March 16, 1934 in Canton, Ohio a son of the late Gene A. and Peg R. Keith Conn of Minerva, OH.  Richard retired as a naval officer after 24 years of service and was a chief hospital corpsman.  After retiring from the Navy he continued his career as an optician until he retired to be at home with his family.   He was a member of Hall of Tubal Lodge # 551 F & AM, Minerva, OH; 32 degree member of Valley of Canton AASR; VFW; American Legion; Jefferson Sportsman Club and P.E.R. of Elks Lodge.  He was an avid fisherman.  Preceding Richard in death was his brother Robert Conn of Minerva, OH and daughter-in-law Gail Conn.  Surviving are his loving wife Patricia “Pat” Davis Conn; three sons Gary Conn of Minerva, OH, Greg Conn of Auburn, AL and Scott Conn of Blythe, GA; step-children Nikki Murphy of Wheeling, WV and T.R. Murphy of Steubenville, OH; brother Roger Conn of Dayton, OH; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews.  He will be sadly missed by his dog and faithful friend “Sadie”.  Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville Thursday 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. where a service will be held Friday 1 p.m. with Pastor Hester Hudson officiating.  Masonic service Thursday 6:30 p.m.  Entombment at Fort Steuben.
