Obituary For Rev. Robert A. Mascolino

Rev. Robert A. Mascolino, 88, of Steubenville, Ohio died Friday, September 19, 2008 at Trinity West. He was born June 13, 1920 in Steubenville a son of the late Anthony and Antonia Tortorice Mascolino. After graduating from Catholic Central High School, Fr. Bob attended Mt. St. Mary College in Emmitsburg, MD., St. Charles Seminary College in Columbus and Mt. St. Mary of the West in Norwood, Ohio. Fr. Bob was ordained October 13, 1945 at St. Peter Church by Bishop John King Mussio. His appointments included St. Agnes & St. Bernadette Churches in Mingo, Sts. Peter and Paul in Lore City, St. Stanislaus in Maynard, St. Pius X and St. Peter in Steubenville. Upon his retirement February 1, 1986, he was in residence at St. Anthony Church in Steubenville. He was a member of Knights of St. George and served as chaplain for Immaculate Heart of Mary K of C Council 472 in Wintersville and St. John Medical Center. Preceding Fr. Bob in death were his parents; and four brothers Salvatore, Thomas, Joseph & James William Mascolino. Surviving are his brother Rev. Charles E. Mascolino of Steubenville; sisters Marina Vincent of Wintersville and Mary Augusta Common of Pembroke Pines, FL; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home on Wednesday 4-7 p.m. On Thursday friends may call 2-7 p.m. at St. Peter Church. Funeral liturgy with mass noon Friday at St. Peter with Rev. Charles E. Mascolino & Bishop Daniel Conlon officiating. Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Rite of Transfer 1:45 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter. Vigil 6:45 p.m. Thursday In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Catholic Central High School, 320 West View, Steubenville, OH 43952 NOTE : St. Peters will still offer daily mass at 5:15 p.m. Thursday.
