We so appreciated Uncle Ralph and Aunt June encouraging us to come to Wintersville Baptist Temple back in 1969 ,right after we were married, to participate in the ministry there. We taught teens and Sondia sang in the choir. ( We still have the record albums the choir had cut back then.) We benefited from his (and his sons') preaching for three years. We remember Ruth fondly as well as others in the church. Of course as family members, we knew Uncle Ralph and his whole family for years earlier. I remember when he was saved and started in the ministry. The fact that his sons continue to preach the gospel and his daughter's family minsters also, speaks well of his excellent training of them. Ralph, Sydney, Dan,Karen, Sandy,Jeff and all your family members and Ruth , we send our sympathy and prayers that you will sense God's comfort and wisdom in the days to come.

So many memories as I read of Dr Wingate's passing. He and his family touched my life so much, there are no words to encompass it all. Remembering when the temple was started at the firehouse...then to the first new building...the bigger sanctuary building, the school, the deaf ministry, church camp, the Temple Trio and so much more. Your in depth preaching of the Holy Bible resonated then and has stayed with me to this day. To Sandy, Danny, and Ralph Jr. and your families, we all know we will be reunited one day...As the trio used to sing..."We shall rise!" Love to you all.

Pastor Wingate was a great man lead by the Lord. I remember him from the time I was a small boy going to church at Calvary Baptist in Chillicothe, IL. He always had time to answer any question I may have had and if he didn't know he would do his best to find out, not just brush off the question. And he did not judge if someone made a wrong choice or missed church, he knew how hard it was to be a good Christian. He will be greatly missed, but he is home with the Lord.My condolences,Andrew Reny

Ralph, Dan & Sandra: Please know you have my deepest sympathy for the passing of your Dad, my Uncle. My memories go way back to the Toledo days when we were all children. Those memories are good with family gatherings. Upon reading about his life, it is apparent he was a wonderful father, husband and mentor to all that knew him. We all should hope to live a life such as his. May God give you all peace and comfort during this time of celebration of his life well lived.
