Obituary For Raymond "Randy" Gardner

Raymond “Randy” Gardner, 69, of Bloomingdale, OH, passed away on February 23, 2024, in Steubenville, OH with his loving wife of nearly 40 years by his side. He was born on January 5, 1955, in Oil City, PA. Randy was a graduate of Steubenville High School and furthered his education at Jefferson and Belmont Technical Colleges.

Randy was a man of many talents, excelling in various fields such as home electrical contracting, carpentry, antique furniture restoration, auto mechanics, and small appliance repair. His career journey led him through Metallurgical and non-destructive testing, eventually returning to work as a coal miner until his retirement in April 2017 from McElroy Coal Mine in Marshall County, WV.

A member of the Church of God, Randy found solace and community in his faith. He was known for his love of God and his family. Randy enjoyed gardening, grilling, and caring for his flock of chickens. He was always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Randy will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, June Gardner. Throughout their marriage, Randy and June worked together as a team on various projects. Most recently they found joy in creating sweet treats for local farmer markets. His sister Margaret Gwinup, children Michael Gardner (Kim), Cynthia Gardner, Robert Gardner (Hope), Beth Waller (Luke), Kimberly Nailon (Dan), stepsons Raymond (Sulie), William (Amy), Daniel, and Luke Prolago (Nissa), 19 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert & Betty Beers Gardner, and brothers Edward, Robert, Jerry, and David Gardner.

Randy’s family will receive friends at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:30 p.m. with Elder Jim Kocher presiding. Private burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.

    I had the pleasure to meet Randy when I did his roof. He was a Godly man & we both liked talking about the Lord and Bible prophecy. May God Bless you June and your family.

    I met Randy through the Doyle's. There are so many words that come to mind when I think of Randy: husband, father, spiritual, caring, man of character and integrity, hardworking and handy. I am so grateful for our paths crossing. Such a tragedy. Much love to June and family.
