Obituary For Ralph A. Porter

Ralph A. Porter, 98, three months short of his 99th birthday, formerly of Steubenville, Ohio, died at Aultman Compassionate Care Center in Canton, Ohio on July 3, 2012 after a short illness. He was born in Mingo Junction, Ohio on October 1, 1913 a son of the late Roy & Anna Porter. He retired from  Miners & Mechanics Bank in 1979. Ralph formerly worked for Railway Express and Weirton Steel. He was a member of LaBelle View Church of Christ for 74 years,  Steubenville Rifle and Pistol Club (Life Member) and was a 32nd degree Mason. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Wilma; brothers Floyd, Bill & Bob; sisters Hazel & Dorothy.  He was the much loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  Surviving are his sons Ralph (LaVonne) and Tom (Liberty); grandchildren Dean (Kim) Porter, Julie (Mike) Slifka & Angela Porter; great grandchildren Alex & Mitchell Slifka and Morgan & Christian Porter; sister-in-law Marge Porter; many nieces & nephews.Friends may call at Shorac Funeral Home (formerly McClave Funeral Home), 611 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, Ohio on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. with Minster Tom Arehart officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to LaBelle View Church of Christ.

    Please accept our most sincere condolences on the loss of Uncle Ralph. I have such fond memories of holidays, picnics, and great times together. Not only was he a great uncle, but he became a great friend later in life. May he once again be together with all his brothers and sisters in the beginning of his new life.
