Obituary For Philip A. Buono

Philip A. Buono, 97, of Wintersville passed away Monday, August 26, 2019 at Trinity West ER. He was born in Holiday Cove, WV on October 27, 1921 a son of the Salvatore and Frances Rollo Buono. He retired from Pennsylvania Railroad as a car repairman and was a member of LaBelle View Church of Christ, where he was a former deacon. He enjoyed golf and pitching horseshoes. He also loved all Indian Creek sports. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees Battalion Construction stationed in the Russell Islands. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Martha McCombs Buono whom he married on October 30, 1942 and she passed away on September 5, 2000; brothers Earl, Ralph, and Reggie Buono and sister Lucy. Phillip is survived by his sons Richard (Bonnie) Buono of Bloomingdale and Robert Buono of Wintersville; daughter Phyllis Bee of Wintersville; grandchildren Jamie (Darin) Heavilin, Janie (Brian) Hibbits, Jan Bee, Mandy Buchanan and Jimmy Bee; great grandchildren Morgan, Darin (Rachel), Dylan, Alexis, Brianna, Anthony, Emily, Olivia, Gabby and Blake; great great grandchildren Abigail, Lucille and Ryder and Isabelle on the way this week. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Thursday from 4-7p.m., where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10a.m. with Tom Arehart officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.

    Great memories of Uncle Phillip, a dedicated father and husband, a man of integrity and a friend to everyone. So happy I saw him earlier this month and heard more stories from the good old days! Rest In Peace, dear Uncle. My sympathies to all my cousins and their families.
