Peter S. Vein, Jr., 81, of Richmond, OH passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016 in Medina, OH. He was born in Steubenville on December 15, 1934 a son of the late Peter and Milija Tepovac Vein, Sr. He was Serbian Orthodox by faith and retired from United Mine Workers after 28 years, where he had served as treasurer. Peter also retired from the State of Ohio Department of Transportation. He had worked for many coal companies, Freshwater Construction and the former McCauslens Greenhouse and owned the former Rose-A-Lees Bar in Bloomingdale. He was a 1952 graduate of the former Jefferson Union High School. Peter enjoyed traveling with his late wife, woodworking and was very active in his garden with all of his plants and flowers and loved to feed the animals on his property. He coached Little League Baseball in Richmond for several years. His greatest joy were his children and grandchildren and reading the newspaper. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his late wife Nancy L. Amick Vein, they were married on July 15, 1961 and she passed on April 4, 2014, he was her long term caregiver; brothers Sam, George and Eli Vein; sisters Ann Wukelic and Josephine Hare. Peter is survived by sons Peter S. (Melissa) Vein, III of Medina, OH and Charles E. (Traci) Vein of Harrisburg, VA and his daughter Margaret A. (Edward) Weaver of Cincinnati, OH; brothers Milan Vein of Wisconsin and Joseph Vein of Steubenville; sisters Dorothy Jewett and Martha Vein, both of Steubenville; grandchildren Bryce, Bella, Brady, Emily, Josh, Heather, Charles, Ashley, Josh, Anthony and Jacob; 3 greatgrandchildren. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Sunday from 2-4 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Clint Quillen officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Jefferson County Humane Society.

Sorry to hear about your lost. I have known Pete since I was a little girl. He was a funny and nice guy. I remember a few years back when I saw him and he didn't know me. He said how did I grow up so fast , I couldn't be the little girl that ran around on the farm. Gave me a smile. Praying that God will give each of you comfort and strength during this time .
