Obituary For Peter S. Drazich

Reverend Peter S. Drazich 81 of Steubenville, OH went to be with his Lord Saturday, February 23, 2002 at Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, OH. He was born in Steubenville, OH on December 7, 1920 the son of the late Rade (Radonja) and Dorothy (Dragica) Wukelic Drazich. He was a member of Rosemont Chapel, Steubenville, OH. He was an evangelist having held over 680 revival meetings across the country including camp meetings. He was a former pastor at various area churches, and was a member of the Hollow Rock Camp Meeting Board. He started the Christian Book and Supply Store and had operated the City Rescue Mission, both in Steubenville, OH. He was a retired member of the Labor International Union of North America. Reverend Drazich provided encouragement to many young men in the ministry. He was loved and admired by young and old alike having a real heart for children and anyone who needed a friend. Prior to his evangelical work he was very active in sports. He was a former Golden Gloves boxing champion, sponsored and coached softball teams in various leagues, was a football and basketball official for 15 years, having belonged to the Ohio-West Virginia Officials Association. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during WWII having served as a Army-Air Force radio operator in the South Pacific. He received the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal WWII. He had also worked at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel as a carpenter. He is survived by brothers: William W. Drazich and Nick R. Drazich and wife Mary, both of Steubenville, OH, sister: Mildred Mamula of Florence, SC, nieces: Doreen Woods and husband Gary of Florence, SC, Melanie Polonofsky and husband Myer of Houston, TX, and their families. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH today from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M., where Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Charles Shoe officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery, Steubenville, OH
