Peter Manuel, 84, of Steubenville, Ohio died Friday, December 16, 2005 at Anne’s Country Retreat, Wellsburg, WV. after a courageous battle with his illness. He was born in Weirton, WV on August 25, 1921 the son of the late Antonios and Theodora Karatgas Manuel. Pete was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church; A.H.E.P.A.; American Legion Argonne Post 33 and served in the Army during WWII. He retired in 1987 from the U.S. Postal Service. Preceding Pete in death were his wife Margaret E. Schumaker Manuel, whom he married February 23, 1943 and she died January 14, 2005; daughter Patricia Ann Rauch; stepbrother Agamemnon Ballas; and his uncle Steve Karatgas. Pete is survived by his son Stephen (Beth) Manuel of Wintersville; two daughters Barbara (John) Devore of Moon Township, PA and Donna (Ralph) Zende of Steubenville; six grandchildren and two great grandsons. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home on Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Dean Dimon officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery.
