To Debbie and children, Ruth Ann, Mary Beth and HJ, Please accept my sincere sympathy at Paul's passing. I cannot even begin to tell you how saddened I was to hear of it. There are so many memories I have of "The Flash" over the years. Playing in the neighborhood; the "Snow Bowls" on Grandview Ave; studio wrestling on Park St as well as block parties there. He always made me laugh and was such a good person. Having him as part of my wedding over 30 years ago just shows you how well-thought of he was by my wife and me. Debbie, I certainly remember you and wish you and your family the best. Again, please accept my sympathies. Keith Wise

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Firm family. I had the pleasure of getting to know Paul over the past 20 years, through the trucking industry. Paul always took the time to sit and chat trucks and sports, but his passion in life was definately his family. He always took the time to ask about my family and spoke about his with great joy and pride. He will be truely missed. May God bless you all through this time.

Ashley, Matthew, Mary Beth, Ruth Anne, Harry, Debbie, and family, So sorry for the loss of Paul. In his passing, Big Red has lost more than can ever be replaced. He was a great fan, booster, volunteer, and friend. He helped me as a coach at Roosevelt and shaped many of our students. He helped us reach hundreds of fans through our broadcasting of games. He supported Reno, the coaches and all of our players by giving countless hours to their promotion. He was a good brother . You could always call on him for help. He was a friend to all. But most of all he was the best dad I ever met. Below ia a poem that parallels some of Paul's strengths but even it is lacking in describing the best father I have ever known. Rich Ranallo A True Father C. By Anonymous Most any man can father a child for this we know is true, but to be a good dad there's a whole lot more for all these men to do. They have to have strength to endure long days even though their bodies be tired, the love in their hearts has to show in their eyes to the child who so admires. They have to show honesty through each day and show that life is worth living, they have to show caring in all they do in taking and in giving. Understanding has to be a big part of the father's heart as well, and though he feels pain or hurts at times he may never, never tell. They have a great laughter that shows in their eyes and comes rolling from within, to light up the faces of each little child as each day draws to an end. Hopes for today, Dreams for tomorrow is what they must keep showing, and though they grow old they still feel great joy, for the love of their children keeps growing.

Debbie, Ashley & Matt- I am so sorry for your loss. Paul was my coach so many years ago, we shared a laugh in Wheeling this past season when I yelled to him, "Remember the Bisons". We were terrible-but you'd never know it from Coach. Kind and patient, and always glad to be there. Take comfort in those that tell you how highly they thought of Paul. He was a good man, and we all saw a great Dad, and I appreciate his commitment to our community & kids. Much prayers are with you at this time.

Please except these belated condolences on your lose. I was out of the area in March and just now heard of Paul's passing. I, too, graduated with Paul and had the pleasure of knowing him for too few years. Part of the magic of Big Red football was seeing Paul and Matthew at every game and their obvious bond. Those moments will be missed by everyone who considers themselves a Big Red fan. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

I was so saddened to hear of Paul's passing. I went to elementary and junior high school with Paul before my family moved to Maryland. I didn't get to see Paul many time after that, only at Big Red games when I came back to town. Paul was always a very special friend to me. May you be comforted during this very difficult time.

To Paul's Family and Friends, Another life of the class of '74 has left us too soon. Although our paths have not crossed since those earlier days, it's obvious from all the kind words just how much he was loved and respected. May these memories give you strength throughout this difficult time and always. You're all in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Nancy Magyer

"Uncle Paul" are two words that have been a part of the word "home" my whole life. I don't know how to enter the city of Steubenville without thinking about what day I will see Uncle Paul. He is truly an inspiration to me and this past week, I can see he was to others too. He was what I call a "quiet hero" doing so much for so many and never requiring recognition for it. One of the funniest people I'll ever be around, supportive of his nieces and nephews even when harassing us, loving, and without a mean or bitter bone in his body. Very very few people are like him. The world is missing one of the great ones now. He will be a guardian angel with an amazing sense of humor though. Love you Uncle Paul...forever. You will still be part of "home." You are missed.

  • 09/03/2024

No words are sufficient to convey the loss of someone whose life is cut so tragically short. I knew Paul through high school and we graduated together in 1974. I rarely saw much of him in the years after graduation but always felt in touch through his excellent recreations of Big Red football games on the Big Red website. My deepest sympathies to his family & those closest to Paul.

  • 09/03/2024

Dear Debbie, Ashley, Matt & Firm Family, We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Paul. An obituary can only highlight a small portion of one's life and his memory will live on in the hearts of those that loved and knew him. He has been a big part of many young lives growing up in Steubenville. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of those whose lives he has touched. Paul was a magnificent husband, father and friend. We cherish the friendship we had with Paul since High School, as well as with all of you. Pauls quick sense of humor and ageless smile we will miss the most. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. May God Bless and comfort you and your family during this difficult time. May Pauls Memory Be Eternal not just here on earth but in the Kingdom of Heaven with our Lord. Love & Prayers, Jerry and Mary Lynn & Nicholas Ricci
