Paul C. Vittek 88 of Steubenville died Friday, November 12, 2004 at Greenbrier Nursing Home, Parma Heights, Ohio. He was born on March 4, 1916 a son of the late Simon and Mary Catherine Lantosh Vittek. He attended Holy Name Cathedral. Paul played football at O.S.U. during the 1939, 1940 and 1941 seasons. He enlisted as an aviation cadet while attending classes at Yale University and joined the Army Air Corps. During WWII, he was an armament officer for the 415th Bomb Squadron and was a member of the 98th Bomber Group (The Pyramiders) serving in North Africa. Paul was preceded in death by his wife Wilda Jane Grubbs Vittek, whom he married on May 8, 1945 in the Church of SS Peter and Paul in Cumberland, Maryland, on August 1, 2002; five brothers and three sisters. Paul is survived by his daughter Mary Kaye (Alan) Harris of Parma; grandson Michael A. (Karen) Harris of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; great grandson Sidney Harris and one sister Mary Vittek of Joplin, Missouri. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home in Wintersville on Monday from 1 p.m. until time of services at 3 p.m. and again from 6-8 p.m. Private burial at Fort Steuben.
