Patricia Wherry Albaugh, 90, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the Carriage Inn of Steubenville, where she had been a resident since 2011. She was born August 8, 1928 in Steubenville, a daughter of the late James V. and Ruth Hobson Wherry. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Albaugh was preceded in death by her husband, Otis A. Albaugh, on February 24, 1989.
Mrs. Albaugh earned her Bachelors and Master Degrees from Geneva College and then taught in the Steubenville City School System for more than thirty years. She was well known at SHS and was especially pleased with her record of never missing a Big Red home football game during the last fifty years.
Mrs. Albaugh was a lifelong Methodist; life member of the Daughters of the American Revolution; Daughters of 1812; Woman’s Club of Steubenville; American University Women; Steubenville Education Association; Retired Teachers Association; Ohio and National Education Associations; YWCA and the Richmond, Ohio Community Historical Society.
Mrs. Albaugh is survived by her sister Julia “Judy” (Ken) Dunlope and niece Julia Williams, all of Dayton, Ohio; nephew Douglas (Debra) Dunlope of Columbus, Ohio; two great nephews; one great niece and two second cousins.
After her husband’s death, Mrs. Albaugh established and funded the Albaugh/Wherry Charitable Foundation. The primary beneficiaries of the foundation are graduating seniors from Steubenville High School who have a letter of acceptance from a state funded college or university in Ohio.
Services at 11 a.m. Friday, July 5th at Union Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Byron Bufkin of Richmond U.M. Church officiating.
Memorial tax-free contributions may be made to the Foundation in her memory, in care of 93 Harmony Drive, Wintersville, Ohio 43953

Mrs. Albaugh was my next door neighbor on Jeannette Avenue for 20 years. I often think of her, Otis and their kindness to me during my youth. I can only pay forward, but with her example that is much easier. Rest in Peace. Steve Franckhauser
