Patricia L. Unroe 78 of Tustin, California, formerly of Steubenville, Ohio died Sunday morning, March 30, 2003 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Patricia was born in Steubenville on December 30, 1924 a daughter of the late Joseph and Amelda Kelly Franckhauser. Patricia was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Steubenville and Mount Carmel Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio. She was employed as a registered nurse by St. John Medical Center (now Trinity West) for over forty years. Patricia was the first head nurse of the newly opened Cardiac Critical Care Unit, and was highly respected by doctors, nurses and patients for her intelligent and personal dedication to patient care. She is remembered as a kind and caring person by her family and long-time friends. Mrs. Unroe was preceded in death by her husband James Robert Unroe and one brother Thomas Franckhauser. She is survived by her son John Patrick (wife Carla) Unroe and grandchildren Brad and Leslie of Santa Ana, California and three brothers Joseph Franckhauser of Toledo, Ohio, John Franckhauser of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and James Michael Franckhauser of Columbus, Ohio. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral liturgy with mass 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peters Church with Msgr. George Yontz officiating. Entombment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville, Ohio. Vigil services 8:45 p.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson County Unit of the American Cancer Society.
