Obituary For Patricia Jean Bates

Patricia Jean “Patty” Bates, 68, of Wintersville, OH passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 at home after an extended illness with her family at her side. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 19, 1945 the daughter of the late Roland and Jean (Pierce) Ramsay of Steubenville. Patty was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking her special recipes for her family and friends, her children always came first in her life. She graduated in 1963 from the former Wayne High School in Bloomingdale, OH and the Clark, Gilbert and Silverthorn Academy of Cosmetology in Steubenville, OH. Patty is survived by her husband of nearly 49 years Larry “Nip” Bates; son Jeffrey Bates at home; daughter Darcy Bates of Duncan Falls, OH; sister Mary Jane Smyth Casebeer of Bergholz, OH. Patty’s pet beagle “Rusty” will also miss her. Patty requested no visitation. Private interment service at Unionport Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
