Orford G. “Art” Knicely, 87, of Mingo Junction, OH passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Valley Hospice. He was born in Heaters, WV on March 22, 1929 a son of the late Stanley and Georgia Gibson Knicely. Art was retired from Howard Bowers Constracting and was a member of Bell Chapel United Methodist Church, Steubenville Masonic Lodge 45 F&AM 32 Degree, Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville, Steubenville Shrine Club, Steel Valley Antique Car Club and he had worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Ann Merryman Knicely, she passed on October 18, 2016; granddaughter Billie Jo Whanger; sisters Freda M. Knicely, Alta “Loretta” Hawkins and Lochia Dunn; brothers Creatis, Wendell and Clifford Knicely. Art is survived by his children Karen (William) Dellapenna of Mingo Junction, OH, Judy (Edward) Lyons of Steubenville, OH, Bunny (Bill) Whanger, David (Ericka) Knicely and Robin (Don) Laughery all of Wintersville, OH; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8p.m. Friends may also call on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Bell Chapel United Methodist Church from 10a.m. until time of service at 11a.m. with Rev. Jeff Proya officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates. Masonic service Friday at 7:30p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Bell Chapel United Methodist Church.
