Norris E. Hayhurst, 82, of Wintersville, Ohio was called home by his Lord and Savior on October 9, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at Valley Hospice Care Center. He was born December 7,1942 in Munday, WV. He was the son of the late Earl and Eleanor (Mills) Hayhurst. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Doris Hayhurst, sister Sharon Hayhurst and sister-in-law, Linda Marker. He leaves behind his daughter Kim (Randy) Clapham, granddaughter Jenna Clapham and partner Jenna Leasure, sister Debbie (Tim) Nice, companion Jolanna Herceg, sisters-in-law Pam (Terry) Nutter and Patricia Donley and many friends and loved ones.
Norris graduated from Weir High Class of 1960 and worked at Weirton Steel Corps where he started in the Blooming Mill and retired as the Superintendent of Motor Management and stores in 2004. He then was the owner of EMR Sales and Service until retiring in 2022 at the spry age of 80.
Norris was the most loving husband, father and grandfather, the patriarch of his family. He worked hard and loved harder. He was the kindest and most selfless man who gave to anyone and never required a thank you. He was a devout Christian, was a Master Mason of the Steubenville Pilgram 45 Blue Lodge where they referred to him as the “Wayfairing Man” and was a member of the Valley of Steubenville Scottish Rite 32nd degree MSA. He enjoyed woodworking and sewing in his free time but most of all, loved spending time with family and friends.
Despite multiple health obstacles over the last few months, his faith never wavered and he now stands in the presence of The Great Architect of the Universe and all is well. He will be dearly missed by many but his legacy will never be forgotten.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Figel, the medical staff at Trinity West Emergency Department and ICU, and Valley Hospice Care Center for their exceptional care, kindness, love and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Valley Hospice.
Friends and family may call at Dunlope-Shorac funeral home, 215 Fernwood Rd, Wintersville, Ohio on Monday from 4-8 and service to be held Tuesday at 11:30 with a brief visitation at 10:30. Pastor Jason Elliot to officiate. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
