Naomi R. “Dolly” Bell, 88, of Steubenville, OH died Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Mary Ann Manor, Follansbee, WV. She was born February 1, 1920 in Mingo Junction, Ohio a daughter of the late George W. and Coral O’Dell Atkinson. Dolly was a member of Finley United Methodist Church and was a former Inspector for the Jefferson County Health Department. Dolly was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Bell; two sons James W. and Robert “Bo” Bell; two sisters Margaret McConnell and Wilma Atkinson and brother Raymond Atkinson. Surviving are two grandchildren Michelle “Shelley” Bell of Columbus, OH and Michael Thomas Pierson of Costonia, OH; six great granddaughters Taneya, Tia and Tiarra Vance and Myra, Madison and Samara Pierson; brother Robert Atkinson of Orlando, FL; sister Dorothy Burden of Georgetown, KY and niece Kay Lash of Bloomingdale, OH. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville Sunday 2-5 p.m. and at Finley United Methodist Church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Ernst officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Finley United Methodist Church, 958 Lincoln Avenue, Steubenville, OH 43952.

Grandma, words cannot describe the emptiness I feel at this time. I know you are in a better place now and are no longer suffering, yet it still doesn;t make it any easier. I am reminded of a song that Bobby (Atkinson)and his cantata sung that spoke of it being a great, great morning, that first day in heaven, as you stroll down the golden avenue... You are "home" now.
