Nancy Lee Townsend, 66, of Powell, Ohio died peacefully Friday afternoon after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in Steubenville on June 17, 1940 to the late Hugh and Elizabeth Hibbs. Following graduation from Wintersville High School in 1958, Nancy began a four decade career with Jefferson County Juvenile Court, having served under four different judges. Nancy was a long-time member of the Democratic Womens Club of Jefferson County, serving a term as president of the group. In retirement, Nancy resided in Myrtle Beach, SC, with her husband Loren Thomas Townsend. Together they met many wonderful friends and enjoyed lots of traveling. In addition to her husband, Tom, Nancy is survived by one son Daun H. Forester and his wife, Eleanore, of Dublin, Ohio; one daughter Beth Ann Bane of Steubenville; one brother Donald Hibbs of Toronto; three grandsons, Patrick, Kevin & Jordan “Gordo” Medley; and one beautiful granddaughter Caroline Rose Forester. She also leaves behind her best friend, Karen Sommers and energetic dog, Snickers. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home in Wintersville on Monday 6-8 p.m. where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Thomas Hamm officiating. Entombment at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
