Obituary For N. David Fortunato

N. David Fortunato, 68, of Steubenville, Ohio, died Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center. He was born in Steubenville on Feb. 3, 1943 a son of the late Nicholas and Helen Leon Fortunato. Dave was a long time member of St. Peterás Catholic Church. He was the owner of the former Embassy Six Beauty Salon in Steubenville for over 40 years and had currently served on Steubenville City Council for 14 years. Dave served on many civic and historical committees within the city of Steubenville.  In addition to is parents he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Fortunato and sister Joanne Castillenti. Dave is survived by his wife Anita White Fortunato; daughter Anita Marie Fortunato of Chicago,Ill.; son David N. (Jennifer) Fortunato of Steubenville; brother Stephen (KiKi) Fortunato of Englewood, Fla.; grandson Nicholas Fortunato. Friends may call at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Liturgy with Mass at noon with Msgr. George Yontz as celebrant. Burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville.  The Fortunato family strongly suggests that memorials be directed to St. Peter’s Catholic Church in lieu of flowers.

    Our "50th" CCHS Class Reunion will be held on July 16,2011. As David was a member of our class, he will be so fondly remembered. God Bless his family. He really loved the City of Steubenville. My sympathy & prayers go out to his family. A fellow Classmate.

    Sorry to hear of Dave's passing. He was a wonderful man and never had a mean word to say about anything or anyone. He will truly be missed by all. He cared so much about the City and it will be a great loss to them. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

    I was so sorry to read of David's passing in the Herald Star. I don't get to Steubenville very often these days but David and I were classmates at CCHS. I remember David as a wonderfully thoughtful person and someone who very much enjoyed people and life. My condolences to his family and friends.     Saddened by the passing of David. My mother and grandmother were devoted clients from the '60s to the 90s. I remember many times driving them to appointments at the bank building salon even before the Embassy Six location! My condolences from Appleton, Wisconsin
