We were not parishioners but attended Mass at Holy Family whenever we were in town. We LOVED Fr Jerry. He always recognized us when we were there and was a solid, likable priest. We will miss him.

Msgr. Jerry is by far the most outstanding priest ever. Msgr. Jerry is a kind, thoughtful, considerate and loving person. He was always there for his parishioners no matter what time of day or night it was. He'd always go over and beyond the call of duty. He always made sure the parishioners and parish were top priority. He was the rock that held the Winterville Parish families together, a true shepherd through and through. Anyone who knew Msgr. Jerry was blest in every way imaginable. As the angels took him to Paradise greeting the Heavenky hosts he was reunited with his parents to enjoy eternity with the God he loved and served, watching down on us saying: "not to worry, we will meet again in Paradise. See you there ".Descanso eterno a un pastor fiel.

Monsignor Calovini, one of our own, also cared for those he grew up with, even though he was so busy with his own work for the diocese. Peace and sympathy to Judy and Janet and families. Rest in peace, Msgr. Jerry.

NOT TO WORRY~~~ by linda freedI can still hear him say, " Not to worry."When I would talk to him about some perplexing story. He always had time to sit and explain , Not to worry, what is there to gain.At Blessed Sacrament we had enjoyed him for so many years, And when it was time for him to move from our parish, we said our goodbyes with tears .With the wonder of the internet, we could enjoyed his Wednesday post, Coffee with Monsignor Jerry.Delighted to still hear him, with our coffee and maybe with a little toast. He would say, Grab your coffee or beverage of choice. It was so good to hear his encouraging voice. He was so kind and charitable, loving to all.He reached the hurting & always answered their call. We will truly miss him ,but we know his mission here is done.Giving Glory to God , in the name of the Father, the Spirit and Son.As angels welcome him home into heaven's gates. A great cloud of witnesses anxiously await. For the Lord God will greet him and proudly say well done ,Welcome home my good & faithful son. Come Monsignor Calovini , To your seat at our table .No longer weak or tired , you are healed and able.We will celebrate for all eternity, the reason for God's Son.On earth as it is in heaven, The victory over death was won. I'm sorry to hear about Father Jerry. When my Mom got diagnosed with cancer in 1995, he would go to hospital and at her home to see her every day if we couldn't go to church. Up until my Mom passed away in 1996 Father Jerry was there for me and my family through the worst thing that happened to me losing my Mom and best friend but he told me I will see her again. Father Jerry was not only a Priest, he was a friend to many people. GOD will be there to welcome him into that beautiful place we call HEAVEN. REST IN PEACE FATHER JERRY UR WORK HERE ON EARTH IS DONE 🙏🕊️🙏🕊️🥰

There will never be another Msgr. Jerry. I met him 29 years ago when I first went to Blessed Sacrament & spoke with him about converting. My life changed that day with his guidance, support, blessings & never ending love. He was always there for me during family illness & my house fire. His "not to worry" resounded in my head after the fire. I knew everything would be okay & God would see me through, which he did. I know when the angels came for Msgr. & he arrived in Heaven the choirs of angels were singing as a good & faithful servant had arrived in his Heavenly home. I'll forever miss Msgr. But I know he will continue to pray for all of us as we will pray for him. I'll never forget him & be eternally grateful for the Lord putting him in my life. Until we meet again & I know we will, celebrate everyday in paradise.

I was sorry to learn of Msgr's passing. He was a wonderful man of Faith, He practiced great patience during my time at CCHS, around all of the students. Some of us tested his patience more than others, but he remained steadfast rooted in his faith. I was pleased to see him again at a Crusader graduation, after several decades. He had the same smile and easy going demeanor I remembered from school days. May he rest in eternal peace, God Bless you Msgr. I know that you will be missed. Billy McKean, Class of '77.

Msgr. Jerry will be a treasure in my heart forever. He was there for me and my family for every need and was the biggest support to me in my Hospice ministry. He encouraged me to follow my divinely inspired dream of Charity Hospice and even blessed our office when we first started. And in spite of his busy schedule, he served on our Board. My mission was complete thanks to your encouragement. When you were reassigned from Blessed Sacrament, I felt like a sheep without its Shepherd. You were a true Shepherd in our community and to know you was to love you. I am forever grateful for your life that I was blessed to be a part of. I know when you hit those pearly gates, the Lord hugged you and said, "welcome home, good and faithful servant!" Rest in peace my dear friend. I will always love you! Forever Grateful, Cathy

He treated our Son's with so much respect. Our Sons just loved being around him. We will miss him dearly as so many others will. No doubt he is with the Lord today. Just read Msgr Jerry's obit - I had no idea how much he did for the Diocese of Steubenville - He was a great guy - every year Vicar now retired Bishop Foys would schedule a 4some in the Canton, OH area - it was a fundraiser for a local home that helped challenged people (mentally & physically) - anyway Msgr Jerry & I were always teamed up while Fr Tim Shannon and Brian Harvey completed our 4some - Msgr & I would also get a few rounds of golf in during the summers - he was really a great guy and a pretty good golfer - we lost a good one - may he rest in God's eternal peace

Msgr. Jerry was a fatherly pastor who always greeted us by our names, even nicknaming one of my daughters as "homily helper" because she answered a question one time in her youth. He not only baptized 4 of my children but also kept tabs on my kids' activities. In the confessional you never had a more merciful and consoling priest as Msgr. Jerry. We're so sad to lose him but hope for reunion in heaven.

My sincere condolences to the family. I met Fr. Calovini back in the mid '70s as he was one of my teachers at Catholic Central High School. Years later my wife and I would go to Mass at his Parish and he always remembered our names. He was a kind, caring and gracious Priest. He will be greatly missed.

I remember when Msgr. Calovini was pastor of Blessed Sacrament. He got along just fine with everyone. A Methodist to whom was friends with one of his parishioners loved him. Fr. Timothy Huffman (pastor of Saint peter located in downtown Steubenville) was just like him personality wise. Fr. Nicholas Ward (was once parochial vicar of Blessed Sacrament) looked just like him when he was young. I have a picture of Msgr. Calovini working at McDonald's. The McDonald's picture says "another job Monsignor?" There are so many other pictures in that book. I even remember when my mom called HolyFamily and spoke to him directly because I lost my stuffed animal. Little did I know my stuffed animal was at my house. RIP🌹🪻🌸🌺🌷🌻🌼💐🪷
