Obituary For Mildred V. Horton

Mildred Virginia Groves Horton died Thursday morning, September 4, 2008 at the home of her daughter Kay (Jack) Myers in Worthington, Ohio, where she has resided for the past 6 years. Mrs. Horton was born August 17, 1912 in Jefferson County, Ohio to the late Edgar and Elizabeth Groves and lived in Steubenville, Ohio most of her life.  She graduated from Hopedale High School in 1931 and married her husband Leonard Wilson Horton in November, 1935. Her husband preceded her in death as did her brother Dean (Anna) Groves and sister Pauline (Howard) Taylor. She was a loving wife and mother, wonderful homemaker, baker, quilter and loved being with her family and friends. She was known as a beautiful lady, a loving Christian, a prayer warrior and an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a longtime member of the LaBelle View Church of Christ in Steubenville. She enjoyed Leisure Club many years.  She leaves a son Richard (Jeanne) Horton of Millersburg, Ohio and daughter Kay (Jack) Myers of Worthington, Ohio; maternal niece Cathy (Rod) O’ Donnell of Ravenna, Ohio and nephew Barry (Lynne) Taylor of Huntington, West Virginia; Grandchildren: Todd Horton, Holly (Robert) Bennett, Ross Myers, Beth (Carey) Rhoten; Great Grandsons: Bobby Bennett, Andy Bennett, Chris Bennett, Sam Bennett, Steven Rhoten, and Alex Rhoten. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 11a.m. until time of service at 1p.m. with Minister Tom Arehart officiating. Interment will be at East Springfield Cemetery. Donations offered in her name to the LaBelle View Church of Christ in lieu of flowers will be appreciated.
