Obituary For Mildred P. "Millie" Hawkins

Mildred P. “Millie” Hawkins, 92, of Steubenville, died Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Wyngate Senior Living, Weirton. She was born in Steubenville on June 7, 1926 the daughter of the late George and Mary Kasper Brondos. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul R. Hawkins, five brothers John Brondos, John and George Shernit and Andrew and Paul Shernisky, three sisters Mary Carrillo and Margaret Shernit and Ann Santilla. Millie was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church where she played the organ and a graduate of Steubenville High School Class of 1943 and devoted homemaker. She is survived by her children Steve (Linda) Hawkins and Chris (Sam) Davis both of East Springfield; four grandchildren Kristen (Brandon) Ashwood, Dr. Jennifer (Landon) Carter, Amy Reed and Adam (Jessica) Davis; eight great grandchildren Samuel, Benjamin, Isaac, Owen, Taylor, Abigail, Tyler and Alex; and devoted friend and caregiver Opal Hoover. Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Monday from 4-7 p.m. On Tuesday, friends may call at the St. Mark Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. with Rev. David McCloskey officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 133 lovers lane, Steubenville, OH 43953. The family would like to thank the staff at the Wyngate, Woodland Hills and Amedisys Hospice for the exceptional care and concern given to her.

    Steve , Chris,Sam and family. My prayers and thoughts are with you. I have fond memories of visiting your mom and dad on 213 when we were growing up. They were always very nice people and raised an extraordinary family.
