Merle J. Waltz, Jr., 98, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at home. He was born on May 30, 1923 a son of the late Merle J. & Wilma Riebe Waltz, Sr. He retired from Weirton Steel Co. (Weirtech) as a tool and die maker. Merle was a US Army (WWII) veteran serving in the Normandy invasion and Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Bronze Arrowhead and five Bronze Stars. He was a member of American Legion Argonne Post 33; V.F.W. and 25 Year Club.
Merle is survived by his wife Vera; sons Edwin, Ralph (Dee) and Paul Waltz; two stepsons Kyle & Keith (Melissa) Zonker.
Preceding Merle in death were his son Mark Waltz; one sister and two brothers.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville on Monday 2-4 p.m.; where services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial at Union Cemetery.
