World traveler Mary Louise “Blondie” Stirpe Sabol, young at heart, rejoined her family in heaven on Monday, August 5, 2019. Waiting for her were her mother, Louise “Mamo” Shorac Stirpe; father, Remo J. Stirpe, Sr.; and brothers, Remo “Sonny” Jr. and George “Judo” Sr. Missing her dearly are her brother, Ronald J. Stirpe of Tampa, FL; daughters Cindy (Jeff) Smith, Kathleen Sabol, and Michelle Sabol, all of Washington, PA; granddaughters Heather (David Chang) Smith of Herndon, VA, and Amy (Jason) Dille of Houston, PA; great-grandsons Hunter and Henry Dille; nieces and nephews George Jr., Renee, Remo, Ginny, Renee, Laura, and Lisa; and several great-nieces and nephews. She was born in Steubenville, OH and moved to Washington, PA, where she worked for many years at Federal Paperboard and Superior Valve Company. She was proud to have completed her G.E.D. later in life and then to study communications at Penn Commercial. She was a loving and dedicated caregiver to her mother through many years of illness.
She loved to travel, visiting eight countries and throughout the United States. She was especially happy to have visited her father’s relatives in Giuliano di Roma, Italy, and her mother’s relatives’ homeland, the former Yugoslavia. A political junkie, she voted in nearly every election and volunteered for two presidential grassroots campaigns and the U.S. census. A vegetarian for three decades, she loved to cook and bake. She was a master crochet craftsperson and created her own patterns. She loved antiques, animals, and Scrabble. Her lifelong passion for reading was immense, and she often read an entire book in a single night. In lieu of flowers, hug your loved ones and hold them dear to your heart; donate to your favorite animal charity; enjoy every minute. On Friday, August 9, 2019 a vigil and visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Washington, PA, followed at 10 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial. Rite of Committal and memorial service for friends and family will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the gravesite (Holy Rosary section) at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville, OH.
