Obituary For Mary Lou Peterson

Mary Louise (Mary Lou) Peterson, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and to be reunited with her beloved husband, Robert Peterson (Pete) surrounded by her family and friends at Ohio Valley Hospice on October 30, 2016. She was born August 20, 1933 in West Wilmerding, PA. Mary Lou stood beside the love of her life Pete for 57 wonderful years before his passing in 2009. Together, with the help oftheir children, they owned and operated Peterson's Carpet City in Wintersville for over 45 years. Mary Lou's life was devoted to her family. Her legacy of love and her caring and compassionate nature touched the lives of all who knew her. She was known as "Gram" to many. Besides her husband, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril & Viola James and her sister, Carole Kelly. She is survived by her sisters, Dorrine (Dan) Mamrose, Wilma Reusch, Linda McNeice, all of Pennsylvania, her brother, Butch (Sherry) James of Michigan, sister-in-law's, Florence Bair of Pennsylvania and Peg Peterson of Maryland, as well as, many nieces, nephews and their extended families. Together they raised six children and a great-granddaughter, Amber. Surviving children include daughters, Susan Peterson, Robin Travis, both of Steubenville, sons Jeffrey Peterson of Amsterdam, Michael (Lisa) Peterson of Bloomingdale, Douglas (Boni) Peterson of Amsterdam, Terry (Jamie) Peterson of Steubenville. Grandchildren include Daniel Travis, Todd Peterson (daughter-in-law, Cathy Peterson), Jamie Jenkins, Jessie Javins, Tara (Jeremy) Smith, and Brandi Jenkins. She also is survived by 10 greatgrandchildren, Amber Travis, Trent Travis, Gage Ziarko, Noah Smith, Drew Schroyer, Hunter Stoddard, Madison Still, Ryley Smith, Lizzy Smith, and Chasity Simpson. Also surviving are one of her greatest sources of comfort, her three beloved fur babies, Sassy, Timmy and P.D. Family and friends are invited to share in a celebration of Mary Lou's life at The Wintersville United Methodist Church, 702 Main Street, Wintersville, OH on Thursday, November 3,2016 at 1:00 p.m. with the Dr. Rev. Clint Quillen officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the youth program at the Wintersville United Methodist Church or Jefferson County Animal Shelter.

    I am so sad to hear of Aunt Mary Lou passing. She was a wonderful lady and i have so many great memories of her. She was always so happy and sweet to me. I wish i could be there to celebrate her life but you will all be in my prayers. She was so proud of her family and has left a wonderful legacy.

    We are so sorry for your loss. She is now at piece and with Bob. We will miss her smile and laugher. Jim loved to tease her about her talking too. much and taking the oxygen out of the room. Sending our love and hugs to all of you. Miss you Mrs. P. rest in piece.
