Mary Jane Brooks, 88, of Steubenville, OH died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Trinity West.  She was born on February 2, 1921 in Steubenville, the daughter of the late J. Earl and Mary Barclay Brooks.  She graduated from Steubenville (Wells) High School in 1939 and attended Pennsylvania College for Women (now Chatham College).  After college she returned to Steubenville and worked at the Barclay-Brooks Insurance Agency, which was owned and operated by her family.  Member of First Westminster Presbyterian Church, Steubenville Query Club, YWCA, a life member of the Steubenville Women’s Club, long time and past member of Williams Country Club.  She is survived by two cousins Robert B. Covert of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania and Susan Covert Wallace of Savannah, Georgia.  Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville on Monday, June 1, 2009 from 11a.m. until time of service at 1p.m. with Rev. Robert Shearer officiating.  Burial at Union Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Health Systems or the charity of donor’s choice.
