Obituary For Mary Ellen Pleise

Mary Ellen Pleise, 76, of Toronto, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Country Club Manor. She was born on September 2, 1946 in New Orleans, LA. She was a registered nurse at the former Ohio Valley Hospital and retired from the medical practice of the late Dr. Clyde Metzger. Preceding Mary Ellen in death were her father Joseph F. Koslik and sister Roselle Staudacher.

Mary Ellen was always happiest when she was with her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and had no boundaries when it came to spoiling them. She enjoyed carrying on family traditions, such as making her famous gumbo and Koslik cabbage rolls. She was an avid reader, found joy in her flower garden, and loved being able to connect with family and friends on Facebook.

Mary Ellen often reminisced about happy memories of the time she spent in New Orleans with her Aunt Helen and the time she spent in South Carolina with Ed and many friends at Billups Landing. She was always there to lend an ear when family and friends needed support and advice.

Mary Ellen is survived by her husband Ed; daughter Jessica (Robert) Sax; son Jeremiah (fiancée Christina) Pleise; mother Dorothy A. Roth Koslik; four grandchildren Abygail & Ayden Sax and Jadyn & Cruz Pleise; siblings Joseph (Bonnie) Koslik, Howard Koslik & Dorothy Panetta; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, from 2-4 p.m. at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, OH.

Memorial contributions may be made to Oak Clinic for Multiple Sclerosis, 3838 Massillon Road, Suite 360; Uniontown, OH 44685

Mary Ellen and I grew up together on Deandale Hill in Mingo Jnction, Ohio. We also worked together at Ohio Valley Hospital in Special Care. My heart is sad to learn of her passing. Spent a lot of time at the Koslik home as a kid. Rest well my friend.
