Obituary For Mary E. Freshwater

Mary Elizabeth Rigby Freshwater, 85, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was born on December 13, 1919 in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Samuel and Bertha Geary Rigby. Mary was raised in Follansbee, WV (Gearyville) and moved to Wintersville in 1948. She was the co-owner of Ralph Freshwater Homes Company. A spiritual person, Mary held membership at Starkdale U.P. Church where she was involved with the Womens Association and Circles. She was a former member of Wintersville Junior Womans Club and a volunteer at Ohio Valley Hospital. Preceding Mary in death were three sisters Sarah Mastros, Dorothy Latimer and Bertha Daugherty and one brother Sam Rigby. Mary was a loving wife and mother and caring grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 64 years Ralph; son Douglas (Charlene) Freshwater of Wintersville; daughters Dianna (Don) Vandeborne of Wintersville and Marion “Bootie” (Mike) Schuck of Bloomingdale; eight grandchildren Terri (Jeff) Smith, Douglas (Jan) Freshwater, Mike (Krissy) Freshwater, Kurt Vandeborne, Don (Karen) Vandeborne, Heather (Adam) Tabor, Michele (Stefan) Vantchev and Mike Schuck II; fourteen great grandchildren Zachary, Ariel & Gavin Smith, Dustin, Adam, Madison, Mike, Austin & Peyton Freshwater, Donnie and Karlie Vandeborne, Benjamin & Jenna Tabor, and Starr Vantchev; sister Ann (Albert) Bailey and sister-in-law Marye Rigby both of Follansbee. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, on Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. On Friday, friends may call at Starkdale U.P. Church from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Philip Makari and Rev. John Byard officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery, Steubenville. Memorial contributions may be made to Starkdale Church.
