Obituary For Mary "Bun Bun" Reeves

Mary Elizabeth “Bun Bun” Reeves, 85, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, with her loving son Donnie by her side. She was born on November 13, 1940, a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Romano Prolago. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Bun Bun was truly one of a kind—she never missed an opportunity to be spunky.

Her fun spirit, quick wit, and unmistakable spark will live on through the legendary stories that everyone who loved her will continue to share.

Bun Bun was most known for managing Mr. Wiggs during its heyday, where her energy and personality made her unforgettable. She was also a proud and devoted Big Red fan, spending years working in the ticket office and running concession stands with that signature Bun Bun charm.

It was later in life, when her grandchildren were born, that she found her true calling. She watched Jack and Trudie every day until they were school-aged, arriving as early as 6:30 a.m., folding clothes, washing dishes, and doing anything she could to help around the house. She took them on daily trips to Kroger, where they never left without a treat or a toy. She never asked for anything in return. Becoming a Nana was her greatest pride and joy. Jack and Trudie could do no wrong in her eyes.

Preceding Bun Bun in death were her siblings Louis, Frank Jr., Paul, William, Ray, Robert Prolago, Isabelle Bengier, Virginia Smogonovich, Madalyn Fraschetti, Jeanette Bracciale, Anna Stirpe, and Helen Sciaretti.

Bun Bun is survived by her son Donnie (Jackie) Reeves and their children Jack and Trudie.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, on Tuesday December 2, 2025 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Vigil at 5:30 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Holy Family Church with Rev. Drake McCalister officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Bun Bun was a welcome distraction every time she came into my station. She was one of a kind and we all loved her style of humor. Bun Bun never held anything back and I loved sharing stories with her about life in general. She was one of the most kind hearted people that I have ever met. Every Tuesday, rain, snow, or shine, Bun Bun would bring my entire crew lunch from Wendy's. She knew everyone who worked or hung out at my station. She was a very special friend and will be sadly missed, but never forgotten. My deepest condolences to Donnie, Jackie, Jack, and Trudie. 🙏🙏
