Martha E. Essig, 85, of Toronto, OH (Costonia) died Thursday, September 29, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family.  She was born in Steubenville on January 28, 1926 a daughter of the late Hobart Welcome and Virginia Ward Snyder.  Martha graduated from the former Wayne High School and was a member of New Somerset Methodist Church.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Carl C. Essig.  Martha is survived by her daughters Donna Murrin of Columbus, OH and Gertrude Faye (John) Fluharty of Weirton, WV; Five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  Friends may call at Shorac Funeral Home (formerly McClave’s), 611 N. 4th Street, Steubenville, OH on Sunday 1-3 and 5-7p.m., where funeral services will be held on Monday 10a.m. with Pastor Steve Smith officiating.  Burial at Union Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice.
