Obituary For Martha A. "Marty" Orbovich

Martha A. “Marty” Orbovich of Steubenville, Ohio passed away peacefully Saturday, January 16, 2016 at The Forum at Knightsbridge in Columbus, Ohio. She was born September 12, 1925 in Steubenville, a daughter of the late Miladin & Anna Mamula Milosevich. Marty was a graduate of Steubenville High School Class of 1943. She was a devout member of Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church and Sveta Petka Kolo. Marty was a talented artist, and long time member of the Steubenville Art Association. Preceding Marty in death were her beloved husband Donald D. Orbovich on July 4, 2008; sister Mildred Barach; and brother Nick Milosevich.

Marty is survived by her son Samuel D. (Cindy) Orbovich of St. Paul, MN; daughters Susan (Richard) Wagner of Worthington, OH, Donna Orbovich of Carlsbad, CA and Martha Orbovich of Columbus, OH; five grandchildren Alexander Orbovich, Anna Orbovich, Zoe Hu, Milo Pitchford & Eli Pitchford; brother Dan Milosevich and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Forum at Knightsbridge, as well as the nurses from VITAS Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care. They also appreciate the years of loving attention their cousin, Samuel J. Orbovich, provided to his Aunt Marty.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Thursday 4-8 p.m. On Friday, friends may call at Holy Resurrection Church, 528 N. Fourth St., Steubenville, Ohio from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. with Very Rev. Rade Merick officiating. Burial at Holy Resurrection Serbian Cemetery.

Pomen services 6 p.m. Thursday

Memorials may be directed to Holy Resurrection Serbian Church; Steubenville Art Association, P.O. Box 1061, Steubenville, OH 43952; or Drivers Fore Survivors, P.O. Box 643, Johnstown, OH 43031. Drivers is a charitable organization that raises money to support brain cancer research in memory of Marty’s great-nephew, Ben Montgomery.

    Sam, Susan, Donna and Martha, My sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. She was a wonderful and kind person. I'll always remember how she welcomed us young guys into her home and took good care of us with cookies and cokes - always with a smile on her face. I think she gave me the better cookies because I was the Serbian kid, but that was never proven. The Orbovich family has always held a special place in my heart and I'll be praying for you all.

    I'll never forget during my high school years .. JR and I would come over and "hang out" in Sam's basement, which was great fun. But I'd always sneak upstairs to chat with Mrs. O. I adored her. Happily, I was able to visit with her during a couple of lovely Sveta Petka Kolo luncheons in recent years. She was unfailingly warm and kind and accepting and a total class act.
