Mart E. Hammonds, 91 of Bloomingdale, OH died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 peacefully at home. He was born October 17, 1918 in Webster Springs, WV a son of the late Robert J. and Ocia J. Thorp Hammonds. Mart was retired from the former Ray C. Call, Inc., where he was a mechanic and truck driver. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Corps. Member of V.F.W. Elkins, WV and American Legion Post 557. Mart enjoyed the outdoors and liked hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers Jasper, Albert and Arey Hammonds; sister Velma Hammonds. He is survived by his wife Ina “Inabel” Skidmore Hammonds, whom he married March 20, 1948; daughter Susie (Bob) Cooper-Dalton of Columbus, OH; granddaughter Trisha Cooper of Steubenville; brother Tom (Mabel) Hammonds of Millcreek, WV; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Friday 2-4 and 6-8p.m. where funeral services will held on Saturday 10a.m. with Pastor Kenn Sickle officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben. Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct graveside services.
