Marjorie R. Porter of Wintersville passed this life on June 30, 2021. She was born on September 30, 1928, in Wellsburg, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Rowena Justice Bauman and Leonard I. Bauman. Marjorie was a graduate of Wellsburg High School and West Liberty State College and held a masters degree in Administration from Dayton University. She taught in the Brooke County and Indian Creek Public Schools for twenty-eight years. She was a member of the Jefferson County Retired Teacher's and the Ohio Retired Teacher's Associations. Marjorie was a charter member of the Wintersville Church of Christ. She was a Sunday School teacher for SO years and served as a Youth leader and Bible School Superintendent. Marjorie served as president and many other capacities in the Women's Fellowship of the church. Marjorie was married for 62 years to Robert L. Porter who was deceased in 2010. She also was pre-deceased by a daughter, Roanne Lee Whanger, sisters Eleanor Dillon and Betty Jane Lyle, and a brother Robert L. Campbell. She is survived by a daughter, Janis (Thomas) Snyder of Hillsboro, Ohio, Grandsons Oney (Samantha) Snyder of Westerville, Ohio, Ryan Whanger of Hampstead, North Carolina, Paul (Kaitlyn) Snyder of Clarksville, Indiana, and Russell Whanger of Wintersville, Ohio, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marjorie enjoyed her family and friends and offered encouragement to many in need. Both she and her late husband, Robert, enjoyed traveling and especially attending their Grandson's sporting events and activities. She also liked to prepare meals and host family gatherings.
Funeral Services will be 11:30 am Saturday July 3, 2021 at Shorac Funeral Home Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio, with burial following at the Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wintersville Church of Christ. Friends may call from 10:00 am until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.

I have fun memories of Aunt Marge and Uncle Bob and the family gatherings they had at their house. One of my favorite things to do when we visited Wintersville was to go to see them. I will cherish those memories. She always had a special way of making you feel welcomed. Much love to the whole family.
