Obituary For Margaret A. Mathews

Margaret A. “Peggy” Mathews, 91, of Mingo Junction, Ohio passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024 at The Laurels of Steubenville. She was born on September 23, 1932 a daughter of the late William & Mary Ann Elson Dunlap. Preceding Peg in death were her husband Ed; son Ronnie “Oz”; and sister and brother-in-law Verna & Johnny Call.

After retiring from the cafeteria at Trinity East, she enjoyed bus trips with her friends, the Mingo pool senior swim and was known for her delicious homemade noodles and nut rolls.

Peg is survived by her daughter Janet (Keith) Duncan; son Tom Mathews (Kelly Enos); three grandchildren Renee Wurstner, Brian (Dena) Duncan & Cory Mathews; four great grandchildren Cade Wurstner, Dakota Scarbury, Pearl Duncan & Oz Duncan; nephews Rick (Sherry) Call, Bob (Christina) Call and her beloved “extended family” the Duncan, Grinch & Figel families.

Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Sunday 1-3 p.m. and on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m. with Rev. Jason Elliott officiating. Burial at Oakland Cemetery.

Thanks to the entire staff at The Laurels for the wonderful care, never-ending patience and love shown every day. Thanks to Valley Hospice for the phone calls, visits, prayers and comfort provided in our time of need.

A very special thank you to Dr. John Figel for many years of “looking out” for Peg, visiting with her and always giving the best possible care.
