Louise C. Sternberg passed away on June 19, 2023 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was born on October 23, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA the daughter of the late Abe and Betty Cooper. She was preceded in death by her brother Jay.
Louise grew up in Squirrel Hill and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Education. After her marriage in 1953, she began her career as a founding member of the pre-school at Temple Rodef Shalom in Pittsburgh. One year later she moved to Cleveland where she taught pre-school at Temple-Tifereth Israel. She continued her career by earning a certificate in LD/BD and worked with children with special needs at Beechbrook in Pepper Pike, Ohio. She ended her career as the Director of the pre-school at the JCC.
After retirement, she joined friends playing mahjong and bridge, traveling to see family and going along with Lew to deliver Meals on Wheels.
Louise is survived by her husband of 70 years Lewis; daughter Marcy (Douglas) Leeds; son Mark (Susan) Sternberg; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; and sister-in-law Judith Cooper.
Services will be held on Friday, June 23 at 3:30 p.m. at Temple Tifereth Israel, 26000 Shaker Blvd., Beachwood, Ohio. (www.ttti.org, select livestream chapel service)
Private family burial at Union Cemetery, Steubenville, Ohio
