Lois Ann (Bruzda) Kirk, 81, of Steubenville, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side in their home, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on December 18, 2023. She was the daughter of Paul & Harriet Newman. Lois was a graduate of Steubenville High School (Big Red), Wheeling Jesuit, and Ohio Valley School of Nursing/Anesthesia. She was a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists for 40 years. She thoroughly enjoyed her job at Ohio Valley Hospital followed by Trinity Health System. She was an extremely intelligent woman who loved and cared for each and every patient that she provided care. She always put others before herself, whether it be in the workplace or with her family. She loved to cook, solve crossword puzzles, worked in the yard to make her landscaping look immaculate, and spending quality time with her loved ones. She was an animal lover and especially enjoyed spending time with her golden doodle James.
She is survived by her husband Terry Lee Kirk, son Shawn Kirk, daughter Sheila Kirk, her 6 grandchildren Anastasia Haysler, Alexander & Christina Cochrun, JJ & Mikki Caniff, Justin Caniff, and great granddaughter Julianna Caniff.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her brother John Bruzda, mother and father in law Wilma & James Kirk, daughter Lorra (Kirk) Cochrun, and 2 great granddaughters Alessi Ann & Bristol Corinne Cochrun.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Rd., Wintersville, OH on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 2 p.m. until time of service at 4 p.m. Burial is private.
The family requests that any financial donations be sent to the American Alzheimer’s Association and the Jefferson County Humane Society in Lois’ honor.
