Leonard L. “Dutch” Kessler, 92, of Steubenville, Ohio died Monday, November 21, 2016 at The Carriage House. He was born August 27, 1924 in Steubenville the son of the late Lawrence “Dick” & Julia Poskins Kessler. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. as a heater in the 80 Inch Mill. Dutch was a member of Finley U.M. Church; WWII Army veteran and Purple Heart and Bronze Star Recipient. He was an avid Big Red fan and golfed until he was 90 years old. Preceding Dutch in death were his wife Maria D. McCrum Kessler; daughter Sheila Uebel and sister Emma.
Dutch is survived by his daughters Helen (late Rocco) Duco, Carol (late Jack) Benedict, Sandra (Thomas) Dellatorre and Joni (James) Huffmyer; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren & 9 great great grandchildren.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, Ohio on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Ernst officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben.

My parents, Jabby and Petey Young, liked Dutch Kessler and often spoke of him when I was a child. The Kessler family were always a part of my family's lives in the south end of Steubenville. I send my condolences to his family and will remember with fondness Dutch Kessler.
