Obituary For Leona May "Lee" Mandich

Leona May “Lee” Mandich, 88, of Wintersville, died Monday, October 10, 2016 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born on July 14, 1928 in Wellsville, Ohio the daughter of the late Henry O. and Willa V. Staten Means. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Mike M. Mandich on August 21, 2016; three brothers Floyd “Sonny”, Paul and William “Bill” Means and two sisters Betty Lou and Darla Means. Lee was a retired registered nurse who specialized in enterostomal therapy at Trinity Health Care System in Steubenville. Lee was a member of the Trinity Medical Center Auxiliary and was a co-founder of the Steubenville Ostomy Club. She was a member of Holy Resurrection Serbian Eastern Orthodox Church where she served as Kuma and Sunday School Superintendent and was also a member of Sveta Petka Kolo Srpski Sestara. She graduated from Wellsville High School and went on to complete her nursing degree from Ohio Valley School of Nursing. She is survived by her daughter Lee Anne Mandich of Wintersville, grandson Michael C. Mandich of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, brother James (Martha) Means of Salem, OH, sisters Willa (late Donald) Wilkinson of Gables, SC, and Deborah (James) Jones of Steubenville, sister-in-law Mary Kay Means of Steubenville and many nephews and nieces. Friends may call at the Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, Wintersville on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m. On Friday, friends may call at Holy Resurrection Serbian Church, 530 N. Fourth Street, Steubenville from 10:30 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. with Very Rev. Rade Merick officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Pomen service 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be directed to Holy Resurrection Serbian Church.

    Aunt Lee, you are the nicest and loving person I have ever met and accepted me as one of your own family and I am so sad that you have to go but I know you are in a better place with our Lord.
