Lawrence L. “Level” McDonald,79, of Wintersville, Ohio passed away on his birthday, November 21, 2021. He was born in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late Lawrence & Helen Gaston McDonald. He was a 1960 graduate of Catholic Central High School and Catholic by faith. He was an avid follower of the Steelers, Pirates and CCHS sports. Level was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel after 40 years of service. Known as Capt. by many of his fellow bowlers, he was a member of Steubenville Bowling Association and was a 25 year squad organizer of the Hoinke Classic. He spent endless hours restoring and repairing cars for family and friends.
Level is survived by his wife Sandra McDonald; son Lawrence “Larry” (fiancée Elaine) McDonald of Sharon Township, Ohio; daughter Michelle (Michael) Hathaway of Lexington, Ohio; five grandchildren that he dearly loved Emma and Genevieve McDonald, Andrew, Jacob and Joe Hathaway; brother Mike (Pam) McDonald; and sisters Karen (Joe) DiLoreti and Marti (Greg) Peden; numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Per the family’s request, services are private with Rev. Michael Gossett officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben.
The family would like to thank Dr. Sathish Magge and the Trinity West doctors and nurses for their exceptional care and compassion as the angels wrapped their wings around him and carried him home.
Level loved all his furry companions over the years.

I met Larry at the ymca about 6 years ago. Spent more hours bs-ing than we did exercising. He was a great man loved by many at the gym. His boisterous voice let us all know that he was present. May his Soul Rest in the House of the Lord forever. RIP Ole Buddy
